General Philosophy

According to Chinese classics, “all suffering is rooted In the Spirit.”  The acupuncture experience can be a part of that journey that brings healing and balance.

Life Coaching

The Acupuncture Journey combines life coaching because lifestyle assessment and “tweaking” are always addressed.  The biggest difference between eastern and western medicine is the empowerment for the patient… because the patient is not a passive recipient.  You are the most significant factor in the progress make.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the practice of stimulating the meridians of the body to effect our qi (or Energy).  Traditionally, the meridians have been stimulated by using needles to insert through the acupuncture points on the skin.  An acupuncturist is trained to diagnose where the imbalances are in the body (mind and spirit), that are causing the symptoms.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Encompasses several methods designed to help patients achieve and maintain health.  Acujpuncture, TMC incorporates – acupressure and moxibustin; manipulative and massage techniques – tuina and gua sha; herbal medicine; diet and lifestyle changes; mediation; and exercise – gigong or tai chi.

Nutrition

“You are what you eat.”  Nutrition and hydration are major forces in your restoration to balance.

Cupping

The practitioner uses this technique to create a negative pressure inside the cup so that when applied to a patient’s skin, a suction effect is the result.  Some cups used actually have a port that a suction device is attached to in order to create the suction.  I commonly use glass cups and create the negative pressure by lighting an alcohol soaked cotton ball with a match.

Your Journey to Healing

Your journey to healing can begin in my Catonsville office space. The most important step in healing is to make the decision to make that initial phone call and set up your first appointment. The following pages should answer any questions you might have about my acupuncture practice. I look forward to meeting with you.

Preferred Provider

I am a Blue Cross/Blue Shield preferred provider AND accept most other insurances.

Personalized Care

East Meets West – My years at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical System as well as the University Of Maryland Medical System/Psychiatric System has allowed me to maintain a unique lens through which i can assess and be with my patients.  I don’t need to reinterpret or disregard the western labels that are applied on my patients from their primary care physicians. I can with ease move back and forth from the western symptom related issues to the Eastern holistic view. This affords my patients a unique and broad approach to their individualized treatment plan:

Acupuncture and Acupressure

Essential oils, electrical stimulation, cupping, gua sha, moxa.  A  session may incorporate any or several of the above interventions.

Nutrition Coaching

Whole food nutrition is the key to a healthier diet.

Life coaching

If a patient wants to delve deeper, we can look at patterns and habits in life that may not be serving your own growth or journey.

Health Coaching

A symptom or complaint usually does not occur as an isolated incident. Together we will explore lifestyle patterns that are contributing to your disharmony.

Because of my extensive years in the health industry I have access to a wide network of excellent credentialed alternative practitioners whom I refer as needed.
