As I approach my one year recovery journey I have a story to share with you.
Last October (2016) I finally surrendered to the reality that I needed to ‘do something’ about my chronic foot problem. About 20 years ago I injured my right foot in 2 places which resulted in a fairly severe arthritic joint in my big toe.
I’ve often encouraged people to consider coming in for an acupuncture/Chinese medical consultation as an alternate opinion to their western diagnoses(s). Let me explain why this can be valuable.
In my last blog post I talked about the detox lifestyle and what it is. Let’s review.
A detox lifestyle (or clean lifestyle) is one that has a predominance of non-inflammatory foods in the diet, optimum hydration (with water), adequate rest and relaxation for de-stressing and rejuvenation, and adequate exercise and activity.
Have you ever noticed how a wilted plant perks up after you water it? It looks vibrant and alive after that…right? We look the same when we go from a slump posture to erect. Not only do we look better, we also feel better. Why? Because we are breathing more fully and the blood is flowing more freely through our torso and limbs.
I find it so interesting that there are so many detox/cleanse type protocols today that people want to try. From hot yoga to water fasts, there is an awareness of the need to cleanse our bodies. I imagine that thousands of years ago, cleansing one’s insides was not necessary or even a concept.
